IMO, this depends on how desperate you are.? Hard for any of us to know how mad the clunking is, and what severity to assign to it.
The fact that you are Minneapolis is a plus.? Put the dealer aside... I bet the Anderson's shop has the parts to get you down the road in short order.
If you decide to go for it, I wouldn't bother with the grease injection... it's just going to sling it on the first 1/2 mile anyway.? I'd focus more on driving style...? very easy and steady.? I've limped quite a few home, and they can take a fair amount of abuse before total failure.
Good luck...

We are on a road trip, and just noticed a clunk aproaching
Minneapolis. Found right rear outer cv joint wide open and spewing
grease. Problem is that Carousel Audi says 3 days for parts and we
have 1000 mi to go. Can we give it grease injections every so often
and just carry on? There is a slight noise but only noticable at slow
speeds or turning left. Antilock off light just came on.
What wisdom doth the mighty list gods suggest?
