Harold-
993s are the most bulletproof late model aircooled 911s out there.

Problem with them is that there are still so many people that want them that
their values are still sky-high- you cannot get a nice C4S for less than mid
$40k range, which will buy an '01 996 Turbo or an '04 996 C4S or possibly
even a high mile '05 997. Forget about the C2S or the 993 turbos- their
values have gone up in the last few years, it seems- I haven't seen a low
mile, clean C2S for less than $48k recently and 993 turbos are again north
of $70k. Since $70k will get you a 996 GT3 or possibly even a GT2 (closer to
$80k+), that's ridiculous money.
