[s-cars] What does "In 2" mean on trip odometer?

The VAG-COM hardware is both an OBD-II connector, which your eBay  
stuff replicates, and a dongle to allow the real power of VAG-COM to  
work.

VAG-COM software will do basic stuff like OBD-II with non-VAG-COM  
hardware, but requires real VAG-COM hardware to be fully functional.
