I don't remember who it was that started this rumor, but I have tried
to stop it
before. These things seem to be hard to kill. : - )
I agree totally with Mike. If he is going to replace the headliner
material and
reinstall the board you got a real bargain. The only difficult part
is getting all the
trim off without breaking any pieces - sunvisors, grab handles and
lights, pillar trim,
etc., and get it unclipped around the sunroof opening without bending
the metal.
Black interior with platinum headliner IIRC - should not be difficult
to match so that
you don't need to do the sunroof cover, which would be a little more
work. That is,
unless you are going for one of those Alcantara recovers.
Adjusting the seats and/or removing headrests can help with
maneuvering room
to get the board out the door.
The fabric separates from the foam backing which is crumbling apart,
so no repair
in place. A blowtorch works great to clean all the foam bits off the
board. It has to
be clean and smooth or the tiniest spot will leave a lump in the new
headliner.
