Woah!  I am slow!
I've been diluded away marveling the price of precious metals bolstered by
gov't moron's.... but
I appreciate all the replies and have secured via autozone some kind of fuel
(tank) glopp which I hope to apply this weakend.
I'm sure it will take < an hour to apply over the leak and secure with some
epoxy or jbweld and will ultimately fail, but this is how I operate.
WRT the brake light, I had full confidence that someone would say, "yeahess,
ya just do this and that," but that was not to be so far.
I like the alternator idea though because... WTH, it is 15 yrs old and
replacement can't hurt.   Maybe it's feeling the peer pressure of being old
amongst all the NEW parts in and around the motor?  I thought it's something
to do with reservoir float... but Could have something to do with the bomb
though too maybe?  (can I say that online?)
