Good suggestion Scott. I did chase the threads on the bolts with a die but didn't go deep enough with
 the tap I guess because I still had a ways to go with the wrench. (which is fine on the one on the
 exhaust side of the engine, more difficult for the intake side one).  It has also been suggested that a
 gear wrench would have helped (yep - slaps forehead).
