[s-cars] Project S6 on the road again in Pittsburgh

Andy,

The main fan clutch has a fluid which thickens with an increase in
temperature (dilatantic if I remember my chemistry of old). Best to test
once you've been for a drive in some heat and with a relatively high air
temp. These clutches are a relatively common failure item once you get 150K
miles+. There is not a massive amount of resistance on the clutch though as
this fan is drive off the "back" side of the serpentine and doesn't push a
huge amount of air. Relatively easy to replace at least!

Absolutely correct Bill. The supplemental fan (A/C) works but I can hold
the main fan still without much resistance. I also just noticed that even
though I turned off the HVAC fby pressing fan speed (-) until the head
shuts off, the next time I start the car, the HVAC is on. Is that normal?
This is my first C4, I've been driving type 44s for years. Which brings me
to my next observation, the power steering is *much* more assisted in the S6

than the 200. Is that the servotronic? Just something else to get used to,

I suppose.

Lessons learned indeed, thanks for the benefit of your experience.

Andy
