Bob,
that is good advice, when I travel on the highway long distances I also use my
CB and GPS.
Plus I make sure I have a vehicle traveling in front of me driving the same
speed or faster (da wabbit).
I've thought about adding one of the newer scanners to my arsenal.

I also have two V1's. They are very helpful but when on a long trip
I supplement them with a CB radio tuned to channel 19 and I listen
closely to the reports of truckers. In addition I keep track of my
location with my GPS unit. The three-way combination is VERY helpful.
