Apparently, Jorgen still has a "limited lifetime warranty." Copied directly
from their warranty webpage:
"In layman's terms, the Jorgen Automotive warranty covers the rack and
pinions, and power steering gearboxes it sells against remanufacturing
defect for as long as the vehicle is owned by the person the product was
sold to. Labor can be covered up to $150 during the first year of use, at
Jorgen Automotive's discretion, provided the product is judged to be
defective, and the unit was installed by a certified or licensed mechanic."
Strangely, down the page from that it says:
".........In addition, for rack and pinions and gearboxes sold after 10/1/90
and for as long as the end purchaser owns the vehicle, seller will provide
free replacement if the unit fails due to defects in material or
workmanship. Seller makes no other warranties expressed or implied,
including warranties as to merchantability or as to fitness for any
particular use and shall not be liable for any loss or damage, directly or
indirectly, arising from the use of such goods or for consequential
damages."

It may be worth a call to confirm.
Waiting patiently for my day to come to play with a bad rack......
