[s-cars] MFTS or Coolant Thermo Switch Leak and Malfunction.....

Jim,
Mine turned out to be a poorly-located hose clamp on what is/was otherwise a new upper radiator hose where it meets the water manifold. It appeared to be leaking from the sensor, but upon closer examination it was the hose, and not the one that runs parallel with the head under the I'm. I loosened the clamp, removed the hose, cleaned the dried coolant from around the neck and replaced the hose, aligning the clamp a little better, and tightened it up. Survived a trip from Greensboro to Daytona and back with only slight evidence of a seep. I think the hose is just indented where the ckamp was and may take a few heat cycles to adjust to the new clamp location. I'll recheck it this weekend.

Subject: [s-cars] MFTS or Coolant Thermo Switch Leak and Malfunction.....

Hey guys,

Well, My s6 must have overheard Wylie's coolant leak troubles of a few weeks ago and decided to act up on me......Just changed the oil about 10 days ago and found the coolant to be a little low, so topped it off and she's been leaking a bit more ever since.....noticed the wires from the MFTS (I think) under the manifold were wet, and today had the red blinking coolant warning light go off. Topped off with coolant, and the light is staying on. Just wanted to be sure this is what I think it is before I order up and replace. Anyone have a part # or an online source they could help me out with? I read on SJM that there are 3 and 4 terminal sensors. Which one do I need? Anything else it could be? Tips on R&R?

Thanks as always!

Best regards,

Jim Fleischer
