Jim,
The MFTS is self-powered so it does not need the 4th wire for 12V  
power.  They are all 3 wire now.

They don't usually leak enough to notice the drop in coolant so  
quickly, so I recommend you take Wylie's advice and look close by for   
a leaking hose.  If the MFTS is indeed leaking, it is covered with a  
rubber boot that will be wet inside (and usually shorts out the  
connectors).  Tips?  Takes a big wrench  that is hard to get in  
there.  You can probably make a small turn with an adjustable wrench  
and then hand remove.  Be careful with the boot and connectors.  They  
are probably fragile by now.
