Agreed, notorious problem and agreed not heard of physical separation, but
then again, I've driven other peoples cars with clanking rattling ball
joints and tie-rods about to fall off that the owners were blissfully
un-noticing of.

If it's that same infamous "known" issue which I've experienced first hand
in cars belonging to me, my family, and friends, there is no way this car
wasn't rattling and clanking like bag of hammers in a cement mixer before it
broke.

But can't rule out this was a discrete random bad part failure either.
Sometimes sh!7 just happens and you get the 1ppm with the metallurgical
flaw. Oh snap, yo. So to speak.
