And they're (TomTom that is) also placing bets on the smartphone app basket
now - aka adapted their long-time software to run on iPhone. Smart for a
company like that, when often instead the reaction is to crawl into their
shell and hope that the change will go away and the world will go back to
the way things were. That said I think there will always be a market for
stand-alone units but OEM/factory nav and smartphones will continue to eat
into the market, so having a hand in various pies is wise by them.

MAC: Just around holidays I discovered a great iPhone holder which is now
screwed to my switch blanks (could also maybe have put in the corner to far
right of IC, kinda wish I'd explored that a bit more but this works great).
As a result it works so well I'm thinking about paying for a turn-by-turn
app. Nice thing about the switch blanks is I didn't hesitate to drill and
screw, knowing I can pop replacements in their on the cheap in 2 seconds and
it'll be back to new.
