[s-cars] timing belt service issues

I see your dilemma over the cost of the replacement part, but that is
how
Audi sells this part for the S6 so there is no procedure for a
replacement
bearing in the workshop manuals.
The hydraulic pump, alternator, and a/c compressor are all intertwined
there and must be disconnected from the bracket to allow you to remove
the
bracket. You just remove the a/c compressor bolts and tie it aside
with the
hoses attached, but all these have to be out of the way to get the
bracket off.
You can't possibly remove the bearing and stake another in its place
with the
bracket on the car. This is a procedure that the part was not
designed for.
If there is a shop that can replace the bearing, they will have all
the tools
needed for the job.
You might consider spending a few bucks for technical advice from SJM.
A better solution might be to purchase a used bracket from one of the
many
cars being parted out.
