Per tonight's local ABC newscast, it seems to be the pedal assembly.
The one with a shiny metal plate appears bad. The one with the black
plastic plate is "OK". We'll see. My vague understanding from that
segment is that beneath that plate there is a spring, and the ones
with the metal plate have a problem with the spring sticking.

Here's to hoping they find a quick, cheap fix. And no more "I don't
know how to shut it off, call 9-1-1" incidents occur.
