[s-cars] Tach reads about 1kRPM too low

S-heads:
Any idea why my tach reads about 1krpm low?
For instance, idle is below 500rpm. and at 40mph in 5th i'm pulling about 1500 rpm.

Is this something I can re adjust with Vagcom?
(thinking that somehow car got set for a V6 engine...)
