See... I knew somebody more knowledgable than me would cough details if I
got the ball rolling!

That steak knife procedure however is really just a version of the
'official' procedure and not the full franken-blower-access-panel hack job
that some have done.

OK I suppose now I owe it to fire up the googlator and send the real
linkz...

Here's a thread for the chop-job fix... Note further down in the thread
somebody says you don't need to cut the housing but can just pull it over
enough to work... I'm skeptical about how doable/easy that is, but looking
at these pics again, am perhaps warming to the idea of the
chop-an-access-panel approach.  I think I could do an even slicker job of
the re-assembly than the OP (I would fab up a fiberglass panel over the top
for instance rather than a strip of galvie...)

Here's the drill-'n'-spray-and-pray idea... although no good pics sadly... I
