Wylie,
If the CPS code is a result of the crank gear keyway failing and
allowing the gear to turn on the crank, then you should be able to
visually verify that the engine is not in time by the timing marks.
If the key is intact or even if it is cracked but still in the keyway,
it couldn't be the cause of the 2113 DTC. I recommend concentrating
on changing the CPS without disturbing the timing. The original CPS
have been known to come apart and also become erratic from oil leaking
on them and collecting debris in the slot. I don't have enough data
to say which sensor is the most reliable, Audi or BB Automacao.
