[s-cars] Fwd: Squealing chipmunks (in the dash vent)

Bob,

I would recommend that you get a mechanics stethoscope rather than
depend on
your unaided hearing or an internet analysis to determine where the
squeal is coming
from.
You won't need a write-up for the steak knife method: you just
butcher the ductwork
at whatever point you are too lazy to access the fastener. Such an
approach can be
used in other repairs, but there are usually consequences for the
shortcut. If you go
for the blower motor, I believe Bentley calls for lube on the 3 rubber
bumpers that
hold the motor. It eases the installation and ensures they don't
squeak.

If you just remove the airbox you can access both motors. : > ) My
preference for the
problem, if I could choose just one, would be the blower motor R&R.
If you can find
some of the CFC based electronic cleaner, you could try a shot of cold
on the sensor
motor area to freeze the annoying little SOB into submission.
