If you told me that you're running Direzzas and that they're far better than
Falken RT-615, or better than BS RE-01R or whatever, then you have a good
gauge of the tires' performance. You're going by articles and talk, which is
heavily dependent on the person's priorities in a tire and the testing
criteria. For example, I would never run a Falken RT-615 on an S6- way too
hard of a sidewall, way too noisy and generally annoying except when you're
driving hard.
Remember that Grassroots is heavily budget biased as well. The Michelin PS
Cups were very very good tires, but were severely downgraded compared to
some other DOT-Rs because they're so expensive, although they do last quite
a long time.
Most people don't run street tires on the track on a heavier car, for the
most part, because the weight generates too much heat, which street tires
can't take and you end up cording them or having them delaminate. I'd run my
street tires on my Corvette because I'm slow and would not push the car much
beyond 6 or 7 tenths, until I got a lot of seat time.
