True a CPS will only give a no start.
Some of the replacement ignition switches won't last more than a couple of years. Mine didn't fail in this manner, but I've been through 3 in 6 years, and they were dealer parts. I think Audi promoted "team doorhandle" from the Coupe days of the eighties to "team ignition switch" in the nineties.
A dirty bypass valve can cause stumbling and stalling when returning to idle, and worth a cleaning if not done recently.
I'm little late to this thread. You said it doesn't blink any codes right?
Intermittent electrical issues are the bane of auto ownership!!
Good luck and keep posting fixes and results.

T
put in a new oem ignition switch 3 yrs. ago. What other ground points are
here to check besides that for ignition coils?
upposedly a bad cps would not effect a running motor ? It would cause a no
tart I believe.
he did say it died or stumbled badly coming out of the driveway recently.

The other stuff you mentioned wouldn't cause total outage other than possibly
bad cam position sensor killing the engine., but you didn't say anything about
he car dying.

he, however, did mention that it died pulling out of the driveway last week.
he is sort of afraid to drive it. No, she is afraid to drive it. I told her
ot to be afraid, just hold your breath like the rest of us.
