[s-cars] Clickety Click, no start - the never ending saga continues.....

Ok, so in the process of turning the aged S4 up for winter....

I jump the car (hasn't been run in far too long) and let it run at idle for couple hours while i clean the interior and fill the spare tire with air, etc....
I take it out for short drive (and start to immediately remember why these are such special cars... the seats alone are worth the price of admission)

And... it dies halfway around my little half mile loop... no surprise I think, I know I need to replace the ignition switch (having already replaced the coils, plugs, crank position sensor, cam position sensor, and ecu)

I walk down the street today, carrying my 500 Amp battery booster, and pop the hood... strap on the cables to the to the respective posts and......I get a sound like a solenoid failure back int the good old days...clickety clickety clickety, no starter engagement at all....

I freely admit my ignorance, I am not a mechanic but I do understand the fundamentals....

Any clues, hints or vague references in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Cheers

Peter Dowker
