[s-cars] Alternator problem - Help!

Yup Audi did the same silly 'splice' design on the C4 without much change....
The C4 cable splice is located on the PS floor behind the plastic cover that holds ecu and relays. Might also want to ck voltages at starter post (on frame rail) and at the jump post on the PS engine bay. The splice behind the ECU cover has one feed from the battery, and connects to the cable going to the jump post, and the cable going to the starter post on the frame rail. The voltages should be identical at the 3 points (Battery, jump post, starter post). If not, likely the cable splice.

Sounds like a classic bad alternator, ABS light gets illuminated due to low
volts (not enough V to run ABS valves)

One question though... if the Battery is at 12.2V (low but not hugely bad) how
can the Alt be at 7.2V? Might want to
check the resistance of the Alt - Battery cabling. The Type 44 (5000/200) had a
frequent failure in the splice in the
footwell but I don't know about C4.

I always rebuild my own Alt so I know who to curse when the break, so far no
cursing. :-)
