[s-cars] Rear brake caliper and park brake cables

Hey all,
After six years with a non-functional park brake on my '93 S4, I'm going to
finally fix it....... I think.
I plan to replace the rear calipers, rotors and pads and think I want to do
the park brake cables also. I have a good write-up on the caliper R&R and
found one on the cables. My main question is: is it absolutely necessary
to drop the exhaust (and/or driveshaft) to replace the cables? I'd love to
not touch the exhaust (or driveshaft) if at all possible as I'm guessing it
will desinigrate if/when removed. I know it's possible to re-hab these
calipers and guide pins, but I have found that my patience level for this
stuff is not so good. I'm better off buying the re-mans and going that
route since my "car time" is at minimum these days. Anybody got a good
source for calipers? I already have the rotors and pads on the shelf.
What say the masses that have done this work?
Ron
