Larry,
I'll check, but most of the stiffness seems to be in the front end. It
hits bumps like the tires are made of concrete.almost like the shocks are
not compressing, but they are.

If an anti-sway bar is affecting ride height, it sounds like it's binding.
THAT would affect the ride, since it's now acting like a secondary leaf
spring. I'd re-check that installation.

I don't know what is going on with the avant suspension. It has decided to
ride like an '80's truck, too...harsh, 'brittle' and just plain not an
enjoyable ride anymore. Newer front control arms, Abt/Eibach springs and
Bilstein Sports that all used to be amazingly compliant. Changes...HRSB;
affected the ride a bit when put on last year, and going to stiff OZ SL
wheels with PZero Nero All Season's with an XL rating. Both affected the
ride, but why it's gotten brick like lately is a head scratcher. Months of
hot Houston weather??? Even dropped the tire pressure a psi or two below
the recommended 36 psi to gauge that effect. None.

I've had 4 Ur S cars and none of them behaved the same.
Ran the gamut of kits from 2Bennett coilovers to plain jane H&R/Bils...and
each
had their own quirks.
Best so far is my current 95.5 S6 sedan w/ H&R/Bilstein Sports ( out of the
box-
no revalve ) >>> all OEM bushings /strut bearings+Igor mod plates. The car
just
goes down the road nice and smooth. No noises....knock on wood.
Worst is the Avant. Fairly fresh stock suspension, subframe
bushings,driveshaft,etc... but the thing rides like a late 80's Chevy Sonoma
truck w/ a few illegals in the bed. Go figure .
As far as your knock, I get that occasionally. Me thinks its the swaybar. I
used
to think it was the springs like you did, but man thats a lot of weight up
front
in these cars. Those springs are in there good.
Just crank up the Bose and roll down the windows.
These cars seem to exponentially get worse the more you dwell on the little
nagging issues.
