Eric,

BEWARE there have been a couple individuals on Quattroworld that have started down the
R12 to R134a conversion.

http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/123167.phtml

Even if you pull all the parts from your parts car you will discover that the fittings on the car
are different between R12 and R134a, it's beendescribed as an expen$ive pita.

Are condensers rebuildable? Just wondering if you could have yours fixed.

HTH
Chris

>I need a condenser for my '92. At first, I decided to cheap out and get a Valeo from ECS. Alas, they sent me the R134a version packaged in a box with the R12 P/N on the label. When I call, they decide that the R12 version is NLA. OK, I'll bite the bullet and drop $500 on the dealer part from Miramar... Not long after placing that order, I get an email... NLA/Discontinued. [Sigh]

That would be fine, except I'm guessing the evaporator is a major pain to R&R. I'm sure I could track down an aftermarket condenser eventually, but the Valeo quality didn't impress me, and the Chinese options are likely worse. Anyone have a recommendation?
