Bob,
Do you smell anything inside the car that leads you to believe you have a coolant leak? When mine started to fail
I had a mist in the air and a smell. Then it blew up and I had coolant onthe floor ... yes joyful.
Do you routinely "run low" on coolant?
Unless the above is true I would start by checking the cowl drains and make sure you don't have water inside the car.
Water in the car can cause fogging and condensation of the car windows.
If you rule out plugged drains/water in your car as the source and suspect its the heater core; you could bypass the
heater core draining the coolant from the heater core and see if the problem goes away.
If it is the heater core there are a couple write ups in the FAQ on Quattroworld
http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/15184.phtml
Recommend you use only Audi parts, aftermarkets have been known to fail within 6 months. This is not a job you want to do twice.
The best source on pricing has been www.genuineaudiparts.com
