The factory followers are DLC coated. Doesn't get much harder than that! There's a company in Canada that offers a roller follower conversion (TFSI are rollers which solved it for VAG). Also note that the warranty on the fuel pump and follower is extended to at least 100,000 miles, maybe 120,000.
