Perfect timing as I am ready to do an HID conversion on the S6's. Tony,

exactly what kit did you purchase from the company in the link below? 35W or 50W? Thanks!

Dan,

For the low beams keep the S6 housing. Replace the glass with Euro lenses
and add a HID kit. Euro lenses available from 034 Motorsport or ES maybe. I
got my HID kit from this online source...

There was no need to defeat the bulb out sensors.

Subject: [s-cars] New Guy Q's

Hi guys, Dan P from Cleveland checking in. I've been lurking and have
learned a lot from you guys. It is time for me to introduce myself and throw
a couple of questions out there. My car is a 1995.5 S6 Avant, Wht/blk, 148k,
chipped and some rough body spots, but all there and a TON of fun to drive.
I've got new Dunlop snows on it, ready to rock. I learned to drive in a
100LS, been thru a few foxs', 5000s, coupe's etc, but had the most fun in
one of our Neckarsulm sisters, my 89 944 Turbo track car. A few years back
I parted out a 95 S6 sedan, blk/blk, (rear hit) and decided I wanted a wagon
version. It is impossible to find a 6 passenger 5 speed car nowadays that
fits a tall guy. Man, I love these heated Recaros! I steer clear of Audi
automatics, so these S cars are a real treasure. The questions-

What is the best fix for these dim (xenon?) low beams? I have housings from
an A6 I can swap out, is that better? How much wire splicing is involved?
Anybody want the take offs?

Any clue why my car locks when I pop the trunk/hatch? I did put a new hatch
on (rust) but I am certain I got all the wires right, except the two grounds
(brown) are indistinguishable. My pal with S6 history said one of his did
that too. Hmmm.. I've got an aftermarket Clifford alarm system (I told my
kids it was a big red dog sensor) maybe it is to blame.

I've got a drivable 94 100CS avant I picked up for parts (needs trans) but
it is too nice to scrap. I can't get the radio to come out of safe mode.
I've followed the instructions about pushing buttons simultaneously, and
holding them, but I must be off because nothing happens. Any tips?

Thanks in advance, I'm sure there will be more.
