I recommend you take a look at VVME HID kits before you jump on a kit
that costs twice as much. There are many other owners using this
system with good success. They are plug and play except for the
requirement to cut a hole in the access panel for a grommet for the
ballast wires. Since they are a low beam bulb, I don't see the need
for the higher wattage 55W ballasts. But, this is a subjective thing,
and many others like the higher wattage. There is a quantum leap in
the lights using either ballast. The HID bulb is not suited for use
in the high beam reflector, but the halogen high beam lights are very
good. The HIR bulb recommended earlier will give some improvement
there without the need to re-engineer the entire headlight assembly.

You can also find the VVME kits for sale on ebay for a few dollars
less. You should consider that the warranty for any of these kits can
be worth little if you have to return the defective part to China at
your expense. The replacement parts are inexpensive causing some to
question whether they are the real deal (they are), but the hang up is
they are not shipped free like the kit is so the price escalates
quickly. I believe the best course is to order a spare kit for the
rare failure that can occur giving you immediate access to the
replacement part at a price less than you could order new. You must
realize that the parts and connectors are unique to most kits so you
can't substitute another brand
part.
If you suffer from dim headlights, there is probably some fault in
your lights, since these lights in the S6 (or identical A6 headlight)
are good systems unlike the earlier 5K and 100/200 Audi vehicles. You
will want to read the FAQ on the UrS4/UrS6/S2/RS2 forum on www.quattroworld.com
for advice on installation and clean-up of the interior of the
headlight. If the lenses are sandblasted and pitted and no longer the
crystal clear glass of the new unit, you should order replacement euro
glass from ECStuning.com.
