Lee,
I have had the following fun leaks.
1. Out the bottom of the tank, emptied almost as fast as I poured it in.
2. At the seal at the pump, resevoir would leak down and then stop leaking
3. headlight sprayer leaked where the "jet" clipped into the larger assemby.
(can't find correct term)
4. Windwhield washer line cracked where it curves down to attach to fluid
resevoir
5. Windwhield washer line cracked up at the hood
If the black plastic feed line is original consider replacing it, if it hasn't
broken it probably will soon; most likely immediately after you think
you've found and fixed the leak! I used plastic line from home depot for use
with icemaker/water dispensor in a fridge.
HTH
Chris

Subject: [s-cars] leaking windshield washer tank?
My wife's '96 A6 is going through a lot of windshield washer fluid and I
suspect a leak somewhere. She ran the windshield washers in the garage and I
did not see any obvious leakage.
With the ignition and headlights on but the engine off, the headlamp washers
did not pop out. I'm ASSuming that the engine must be running for them to
engage and wash the headlamps. In any event, I did not see any leakage along
the hoses running to the headlamps.or anywhere else.
What else should I be checking?
Thanks,
Lee
