This happened in Boulder, Colorado about 6 years ago.
A guy who had an office almost adjacent to where I was working at the time
was selling a newer Porsche. He advertised it on Craig's List. Two guys
showed up to look at the car. Seller ended up shot dead in front of his
office/apartment (mixed use area). Car stolen, but immediately abandoned
four blocks away. They caught the two perps, but you can never bring back
the dead. . .
I've heard (but can't collaborate) of buyers showing up with cash to
purchase a car and then being held up a gunpoint and relieved of their cash.
Two courses of action here: always buy/sell from/to S-car listers
Or do your deals in highly public and very visible places in the middle of
the day with lots of other people around.
On another note, thanks to all who've responded regarding the high beams on
my '95 S6 avant. I'm swamped with work and have some work related travel for
most of the month starting next week, so have not delved into the repair,
however thanks to the list, I'll dive in with confidence when things slow
down. Seems pretty straightforward to me. . .
Cheers and be safe,
Tom '95 S6 Avant
