[s-cars] Replacement car for urs4

I threw up in my mouth a little with the suggestion of a 5 speed V8. Ah, the V8... the "un-rebuildable" Audi engine. Plus, you get the added benefit of less power and more fuel consumption.
Seriously, I had the opportunity to use a V8 5 speed for some time. It is a nice car, good looking, and fairly entertaining. However, I would not for a minute consider buying one... complex and costly to maintain, and just not as fun IMO... like I said, less power, more fuel. Why bother?
If looking at newer... I've owned a B5 A4 and a B5 S4. Both are wonderful cars, both get better fuel mileage than the UrS4, and both provide handling that the UrS could never come close to. If you want to "play" with them, both offer virtually unlimited power enhancement possibilities. And now, the entry prices are quite attractive.
I have a Stage 3 B5 S4 now that makes about 400whp. When driving 75mph, this car will still get me 26mpg. On my typical "mixed" driving, I usually see 22 or 23mpg. It's got 186k miles on it, uses no oil, and works like an appliance. Maintenance on the car has been substantially less for me than the UrS. Handling, with a few tweaks, is awesome. Honestly, there's no real reason to look back, other than less passenger space.
I would not, however, reinvest another bunch of money in the UrS. Yes, they are wonderful. But you can count on parts disappearing to the Audi NLA black hole, as always. There are just too many other attractive options.
Again... just opinion.

Finally an answer to the question that didn't make me want to hit delete, much
less throw up in my mouth a little. I can't imagine going from an UrS car to a
Forester, or any of the other variations of boring that have been mentioned in
prior responses....
