Jason-
You have a seriously rare car- Legacy GT with a manual is a '05 only car.
The turbo doesn't go bad- I don't know where you got that info. There is a
turbo oil line that needs to be replaced on an '05- they commonly sludge up
and that starves the turbo of oil which in turn kills the turbo.

Again, I would not recommend the V70R because the angle gear issue is a big
one. Clutch slave not so big of a problem- have it replaced, problem is
over. Also, with the V70R, you have the exhaust bracket of death (almost got
me), DEM heatshield issue, heatsoak from the tiny IC (need big FMIC), seat
wear issues (leather is too damn soft), strut mounts go pretty often (lasted
62k on mine) and wheel bearings (replaced both rears- first at 50k, second
at 65k).

The angle gear is the only one that's a big issue, though.

I really don't care if you want to trash the V70. :-)

Trash the M Coupe or the C6, I'll have more of an issue. :-)

For a wagon, the '05-06 530xi manual is the one to get unless you find a
rarer '07+ 528xi manual. No other manual wagons out there. Oh, and '05-09
Subaru Outback XT manual- rare, needs major lowering. '04-07 Volvo V70R if
you can live with the above issues- need to go on swedespeed or v70r.com and
really read up on the issues.

For a sedan, I'd go Subaru Legacy Spec B (on the small side), BMW 5 series
(mid size), Volvo S60R or settle for an automatic and get an Infiniti
G35/37. I'm looking at a G35x right now, you can't beat the value- $24k for
an '08 with around 35-40k that still has a year and/or 20-25k miles left of
warranty. With everything- nav, rear backup camera, bluetooth, satellite
radio, etc. $27k will get you a CPO G35x with 6/100k warranty.
