[s-cars] dangerous binding/sticking throttle issue?

Here is what happened to me in my 95.5 S6A on the track at BIR.
Coming out of turn 10 you face the long main straightaway, basically a
pedal-to-the-metal shot. As I shifted into 5th, the engine raced to
redline as I pushed the clutch in. I turned off the ignition and
drifted over to a handy track exit. Upon stopping in a safe area and
lifting the hood, I found the culprit.

Many moons ago, the nut that holds the cruise dashpot to the bracket
on the block unscrewed itself, leaving the dashpot unsecured. During
my full throttle dash down the straight, the dashpot got caught on
something, holding the throttle wide open. The dashpot and linkage is
now on the bench in my shop until I need to remove the intake system
and can finally get at the dashpot bracket to replace the missing
bolt.

Just saying........
