Rather timely....

Just did an oil change on my 01 A8 which is serving hard duty as my daughters DD while home from university this summer.

8 qts of Castrol Syntec's New Edge Formula @ 8.59/qt was rather painful...lucky for me the 4.2 eats zero oil between changes, but I'm stretching the interval from 4500 to 6K from now on.

The outgoing Castrol looked good enough for salad dressing IMO and a quick  smear on fine white stationery looked like it could've been good for some more miles.

Also, cartridge filters FTL...just never been a fan. All them stupid o rings to lose and drop.

Damn!  Well worth it.  Have you seen the price of hats lately?  I clicked the links for local suppliers in their ad and found
Auto Zones logo, but a check lists the euro ultra as "not available".  I guess I have to pay the TN road tax on my own.

We used to have a lister that lived in Hungary, I think,  George something, (I keep wanting to say Gruber) who used to
lament about the cost of his frequent RS6 trips across Germany;  not the fuel, which seems like a bargain now even with
his fill ups every 200km, but the cost of the frequent oil changes for the beast exceeding $400.  I never knew his business,
but it must have paid well or been a hell of a lot of fun.
