Well, merde..

 

Had a somewhat slow leak the last few weeks in the LF tire.losing about a
1.5 psi per day.  Took it to Discount Tire finally to check it out and there
is a very small crack on the inside edge of my 17" O.Z. Superleggera.
@#$%^&*(!  

 

Now mind you, I am the usual driver of this car, since the son is off to
college and the wife hates wagons, but this leak has been going on for about
five or six weeks...and she drove it just about then.  When informed of the
crack (no accusations made), she said, "Well how does that happen?!" I told
her that with a wheel as strong as the SL, it had to be a sharp-edged
pothole or curb, hit pretty hard.  No response.

 

Anyone out there happen to have an SL or two, or three, sitting in their
garage after a similar experience?  Being that this one was on the driver's
side, it doesn't even have a single bit of rash on it.  There are a few
spots on the right side wheels.not that I ever curbed them, but we know how
that happens, too.

 

AND, on removing the wheel, we found grease smeared/spun all over the
inside.yep, torn/shredded half-shaft boot.  Now how did that freakin'
happen?!  Replaced about a year ago.

 

I suppose this is karma coming around to get me.  I bought her a new Touareg
TDI last April and mid-December I, me, caught the driver's side mirror on my
breezeway wall .  Don't ask.long day.freakin' embarrassing.

 

Anyway, if anyone has one or more SL's around, or has three and wants one or
more, let me know.
