[s-cars] Thanksgiving Misadventure

EFIexpress (Marc Swanson) has the GM coils/kits (034 does as well I believe), and 034 and Apikol sell the 1.8T/2.0T wiring loom conversion that uses Audi coils. My car doesn't have a strut bar ('92) so I didn't bother with the GM coils because I didn't feel like making or mounting a bracket for them, and since the car is stock otherwise I figured I'd be fine. Some have reported the Audi coils can't handle chipped applications, and suffer premature failure from track use. Like i said, I haven't found that to be true, yet. I bought my Apikol kit used with the coil cover too (slick) from a fellow lister for less than $200, so you might look around for someone moving to a different setup and take advantage of that.
Good luck either way you go, and I hope it's sorted soon.

Oh, I see another option here:
http://www.efiexpress.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=15&products_id=66
Here is description, if you want to skip the link:
"1.8t UrS4/S6 plug and play coil kit $350.00
Another plug and play coil option for the 5 cylinder 20v turbo engine,
the 1.8t coilpack kit actually uses the coils from the later 2.0tfsi
motors (part number 07K 905 715F) which are taller and stronger than
the older 1.8t coils. Direct plug and play fit for the original S4/S6.
Will not fit the 7a or 3b valve cover without additional trimming. It
is not recommended to fit any form of cover over these coils to allow
them to cool as effectively as possible."
No cover??? I would put that aluminum plate back on? Also this seems
to use different coils (based on part number) than the one Wylie
recommended, which is this one, I think:
https://www.apikol.com/#Products,Engine,21
This one uses coils with this part number: 06A 905 115D
Price is about the same. This latter option not only does not say not
to put a cover on, but you can also order a stainless steel cover for
an extra $30. Anyone seen that? Worth it?
Oh, JC, I also found the Magnecor LS2 wires you mentioned. I think.
$225. But those don't seem set up to plug into anything.
Thanks again.
