In the Fall I finally got around to replacing the oil cooler as it had
picked up a very small leak. In case any others have this problem I thought
Id let you all know how I fixed it.
Firstly, I dont have the OE air box (replaced with cone filter) so have
plenty of room to mount the alternate oil cooler.
The parts:
Oil hoses: used AN6 steel braided lines from

_Code=OL-6AN-9090&Category_Code=OLA6>
&Store_Code=CXR&Product_Code=OL-6AN-9090&Category_Code=OLA6
Oil cooler: I used a Empi 48 plate something like this

Hose adapters:
>From the block one needs an 18mm to hose size of choice adapter: in my case
AN6 to 18mm. I also chose to go with steel and not aluminum. The adapter is
made by Gates. Part no. 18MM-8MJ which is actually a JIC 37 degree part
but works just fine. (JIC is the commercial equivalent of AN tho there may
be a finish difference on the mating surface). Adapter came with o-ring and
washer.
I sourced this part from Motion Industries
http://www.motionindustries.com/motion3/jsp/mii/productSearch.jsp
Also requires two AN6 to ½ pipe fitting adapter. (sorry dont recall where I
source these parts).
I did have to fabricate two brackets to hold the cooler in place. Id also
recommend not to use aluminum adapters as they do strip under tightening
conditions I originally had a mis-match of aluminum adapters and steel
hose ends that caused the adapters to fail.
Total cost: $220 CDN minus sale of old OE hoses $20.
Cheers,
Tony
