Bad coffee this morning Taka? I saw nothing on price *yet* from Greg, let's let him chime in. Modules on a car? Audi is no exception, just late to the game. BMW and Mercedes have been there a while, VW/Audi is there on the latest offerings, and have always been on the high end offerings. Known issues creating a price problem in the used market? I'm sorry, I had to double check that this is an Audi forum! ;). IME, a comprehensive car search is different than a google-type search. IME doing this for many years, sometimes color can be a problem, but I don't find 'color' to be a primary decision-maker for most buyers either.
Manual transmissions (again Greg hasn't indicated that) aren't at all hard to find, and they tend to sit longer on the vine too. So 'rare' is relative to the market. Many dealers have no idea what they have, but asking if it has 3 pedals or two, usually takes the guess work out of the equation, btdt. Back to the original poster, I highly recommend checking out the BMW x drive wagons (manual or auto). The v70 is well documented in terms of known issues with a basic google search.
Cheers and my .02

Let me make this clear- I'm not defending the V70R by any means, I've written quite a bit about the Haldex AWD on the list. You're also not comparing apples to apples, that's the point. You're not finding a 530xi manual for the same price, either.
Manual transmission 5 series are rare- making it an AWD wagon makes it that much more rare. I'm glad I amuse you. Of course there is a reason why V70 pricing is what it is- it started at a lower price point, it has a lot less appeal to the general public than a comparably priced SUV and they do have issues. Same reason why Saab is bankrupt and gone.
What's really funny is that a guy asks about a $10-17k car on the list and you tell him that it's not a good choice and he should really be looking at a $35k car instead. That makes a lot of sense.

Funny read... I do car searches daily for a living Taka, there are many 535xi avants to be had in a 6speed manual (with clutch), and they are still valid models in the used BMW dealer searches. Phenom machine. v70? I have a buddy at a volvo service shop that sells at least 1 a month. After 21 years with 'quattro', I'm not a fan of Haldex at all, esp in the volvos, but even in the TT. It's part time awd best, the bmw xi series are full time awd. Replace a haldex angle gear and or controller (BTDT), the volvo just doesn't seem worth the program, nor is it a known 'once and done' problem. So much so, I'd consider a non turbo version of the bmw I6 wagons first.
Personally, I believe there is a reason the v70 pricing is where it is. Great brakes from the factory though, and I really did like the glove leather option in one I drove recently.
Cheers
