First thanks to all for the great input!

Actually, the contemplation is/was being driven by a semi-locally
advertised 2005 V70R Wagon that had less than 25K miles! The listing was
poor (did not say if it's an auto or stick) and assuming NADA provides
semi-valid pricing info, it was overpriced by about $5k. It's moot because
when I called about a half hour ago to find out if it was a stick or auto,
I learned that it was an auto and it SOLD late last night.

Were I to take the V70R route, I'd prefer a stick, but my bride refuses to
drive one. Were I to do an auto, I'd prefer the six-speed, so I guess that
means 2006 or 2007. The other part of the interest is I owned a V-Wagon
years ago and loved it and V-tuner, IPD (to whom I've "donated" in the
past), is but a few hours a way.

I've always liked the BMW 535ix twin turbo and consider it superior to the
V70R, but as discussed, they are a bit pricey (if all goes well, the last
child's college tuition needs paying for two more semesters). With my
trade, were the V-dealer reasonable, the low mileage V70R might have been
snagged for about $7K, which could have been a great deal. Unfortunately,
someone else got it...

There's a 2006 auto V70R a few hours away with less than 70K, but it's an
auto. I'm also concerned about expensive parts and pieces that likely need
fixing, or will need fixing. We'll see.

Thanks again for all the help.
