I'll say it again..if my '01 allroad had been a manual I'd still have it. I'd have ditched the air for coilovers and never looked back.
I sold them new back then and lusted for one. When we finally got to buy one in '06 (my wife's daily) she said she didn't need a manual with a 3 and 6 year old in the car! F'in a I shoulda just bought the 6 speed and told her to deal.  Live and learn.

Hey guys, with all this talk of replacing our Avants, has anyone tried the
Allroad with the manual? I know the airbag suspension is problematic but I
had always thought a manual one would be good stuff.  How about one of the
Toureg V10 diesels? There is something like 620 ft lb or torque there (with
no clutch, sigh).  Yea, they both are too high up for my likes but there are
not many choices.   I'd be tempted to grab either of those I listed if I
found the right one.
