This might help... Had same problem myself, this change fixed it! Audi switched to blade fuses in the UrS6, so don't be concerned your compromising!

Did you change the resetting fuses that are above the CPU, with standard 15 amp blade fuses. I had trouble with them and replaced all three. Before that I was having trouble starting in very cold weather. The later 95 models have the standard blade fuses.

Hey gang, I'm posting this for a lister who is having trouble posting....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi respected listers,

Having been a long time owner of a RS2ed S4, I went to help a friend who's
1992 S4 wasn't starting. It ran fine the day before, washed it and the next day wouldn't start. Engine turns over but does not catch. I figured the CPS as the most likely culprit. Went to pull the codes with a VAG-COM, and could not establish communications with the ECU. Hmm. Tired the HVAC and it responded just fine.

I went to check the fuses for the ECU thinking one of them had gone. Nope, all were intact. Went back to the VAG-COM, and presto, I can communicate with the ECU. Car starts up pretty much right away. The only thing I can think is that the ECU was hung, and pulling the fuse "rebooted" it. Now my friend wants to know how this happened, and could it happen again? I suppose it can happen again, because it did.

I don't remember reading anything like this over the years or did I miss something? Ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards, Denis
