My guess is that you "Never Drove that Slow before"! I've never gotten what
the mfg. claimed whether it was a new '66 Beetle, my 1st New Car,  my ca.
'80 VW Diesel Rabbit Pickup, 4sp 1st in Upstate NY and the WORST VW product
I ever owned! The same was true for countless used VW. Volvo's & a couple of
Peugeot 504's. UNTIL I switched to AUDI a little over 2 years ago . The 1st
'95 S6 (Lehmann Chip & RS2 EM) I bought at 50K and averaged about 21 with
high of 24 for the 12K I owned it. I bought a '95.5 S6 Avant this Jan. w/80K
and I'm averaging 21 MPG with 2 long highway trip averages of 24.6 MPG.
Generally driving 10-15 over posted speed. This car is MRC2, stock OW.
