Another datapoint -
Last summer, roughly 3000 mile round trip in our loaded 160k mile MTM 1+ S6 Avant with Thule case on roof, two adults, two children.  New tires on 16x8 UrS Fuchs.
Consistently averaged 23-24 mpg at speeds of 65-75mph.

Considering the speeds, load, and case on roof, I was pretty happy ;-)
