[s-cars] Ignition switch problems

Hi All-
My 95.5 S6 ignition switch is sticky and not working properly. Seems to be
getting worse by the day. Feels like something is not aligning properly.
Sometimes it's hard to pull key out, and radio stays on when I do. I have
to keep it turned more forcefully to left as I pull key out, and even then
sometimes the little switch inside sticks and radio stays on, and chime
sounds when I open door, as car thinks key is still in. I've sprayed a bit
of Boshield in there--terrible idea??? Didn't help much. Now the spring
load mechanism seems a little twisted, as I have to physcially turn key
back to left a little after starting car. If I don't, the climate control
system doesn't come on. Is this all a well-known issue? Is it going to
keep getting worse?
Also, on a totally different topic, all this talk of the timing sensory key
falling out--and the fact that it should be pre-emptively welded in better
so that doesn't happen--has me a little spooked. I don't really know how
to find that item. Will my local shop specializing in Audis be likely to
know how to do this? I'm thinking ahead to the family vacation this
summer. After the Thanksgiving fiasco (where I threw the spark plug), if I
strand them again, imagine my Audi future! Thanks for a little more
enlightenment on this topic too!
