IME, the aftermarket links (FEBI) do not have the teflon sleeves surrounding the heim joint. I also see premature failure of both aftermarket and OE heim joints due to dried out heim joint grease of NOS parts. Using a large syringe (ala fried turkey type found this type of year) you can inject grease under the boot without removing the clips. This will extend the life of the heim joint in either the aftermarket or oem application.
All that said, the oe is lemforder, AFAIK the teflon sleeve type is only available at the dealer.
Cheers, my .02 and HTH

Subject: [s-cars] Febi rear camber links - short lifespan?
Hi folks,
I installed Febi rear camber links on my S6 about 35K miles ago. I
followed the recommended installation procedure and set the suspension to
the correct ride height before torquing the outer bolts. I noticed today
that both links are shot-- when I wiggled the rear wheels, I saw
significant play in the outer joints.
I'm pretty disappointed in the durability of these links, as the original
ones lasted over 100K.
Looking online for replacements, it seems that there are only two readily
available options-- Febi for ~$80 a side, or OEM for $180 a side. Before I
take a chance on Febi again, I'd like to know...
1. Have you guys experienced similarly short lifespans with the Febi links?
2. If not, did I screw up something in the installation?
Thanks,
Eugene
