[s-cars] 034 street density mounts on the S6

Mike is right about the damping of the mount being important. I used to
design mounts for GM many years ago. For the final design of the mount we
would ride test many different rubber compounds varying both spring rate and
damping to get the best ride control. Compounds would range from butyl
rubber for high damping to natural rubber for low damping. The final
selection was the result of many days of testing at the GM Proving Grounds
and sometimes 50 different compound trials. I'm sure that Audi does the
same ride tuning and has optimized the best compound for our car. When you
change to aftermarket mounts, which are molded with a wild guess compound,
you give up all that tuning effort that went into the design. The compound
was also durability tested for 36,000 miles to make sure that it would
survive all the severe road conditions at the Grounds. Just my 2 cents of
advice, but I always go with the stock mounts for replacements.

Steve,
You replaced a dampening device with one that that is less dampening.
You are going to feel more vibration. That is the whole point of those
things.
Your mechanic can't install them wrong. They are very simple. They are
held on by 3 nuts.
2 to the body and one to the aluminum arm.
You are asking questions that are very subjective with no ability to make
direct comparisons.
What it comes down to is what you want. If they are too stiff for you, take
them out and put back the originals.
If you didn't want them stiffer, what was your point of installing them?
