[s-cars] Door Latch Repair or Replace?

I recently discovered a “dry” degreaser for my bicycle that’s nothing
short of miraculous. Clean Streak from White Lightning.

http://www.whitelightningco.com/products/clean-streak.htm.

Dries very quickly. Biodegradable. I’ve been very impressed cleaning bike
chain, cassette, etc. Spray it on, it gets rid of grease, and evaporates
PDQ. You will need to lube afterwards, as it has no lube properties.
WD-40, Boeshield T-9. You get the picture.

Thanks everyone - I've already sprayed lots and lots of WD40 in the
latch assembly but I have not removed it to soak it in order to remove
old grease. I'll have to plan to start tearing my door apart tonight as
I don't want to be driving with a door that won't stay closed (it
actually opened up on me on a right-hand curve tonight - good thing I
was holding the interior door pull handle).

If that doesn't work, I've sourced a full latch assembly from a local
bone-yard for $35.

I'll let you all know if the ATF bath works or not.

Paul
