[s-cars] Winter weight oil recommendations, temporarily seized brake caliper.....

Hey all,

Its been a very cold start to the winter here in Colorado, and for the first time since owning my car, she wouldn't start the other day. Turned over okay, but not fast enough to "catch." Temp was somewhere in the -5F range. After a space heater under the iol pan, she started fine.....I'm due for an oil change anyway, and usually run 0-W40 synthetic year round with no troubles. Question is, does the fact that I'm at the end of the oil change cycle contribute to the added thickness of the oil, or should I consider something thinner as far as oil goes? I tend to drive spiritedly, so I need to heat protection on the upper end. Thoughts? My garage isn't insulated or heated.....

My left rear brake caliper had seized as well, took a few blocks of driving to free it up and seems to be working fine since......something I should check there as well?

Thanks in advance and best wishes for the holiday season!
